New build surrey, contemporary home on site

The design of the timber frame building relates to the scale of the local venacular, clusters of houses made of a range of local materials.  The single storey building has a variety of materials to add contrast and interest.  Knapped flint contrasts smoother glass, slate and render.  Internally there are two wings - a vaulted living space with glass gable end to let in afternoon sun and a bedroom wing set behind a glazed corridor which bring in light and provides privacy also to the bedrooms.  The entrance is framed under a steel canopy, designed to allow plants to grow up and over.
